Helping a student through his engineering degree

We are helping a student through his engineering degree at Lahore Leads University. His parents earn very little and could not afford his education.

So far we have paid all of his fees. On 6 October 2026 we paid his tuition fees for this semester: Rs 149,621, about £400. We will try to cover as much of the rest of his degree as we can.

We have kept his name private.

A first day out for the children at the orphanage

The children at the orphanage we support in Lahore had never had a day out, and it was the one thing they asked us for.

On Monday 28 September they spent the day at Joyland at Fortress Stadium, going on the rides and playing the games, and they loved every minute. They finished the day with a takeaway meal together.

We were glad to pay towards part of the cost. For children who have so little, a day like this means more than we can say.

All the rice and flour the orphanage needs

At the start of 2026, we made a promise to the orphanage we support in Lahore: from now on, we provide all the rice and flour the children need, whenever they need it.

These are the children with the bags of rice and flour we delivered in August.

It means the people who care for them never have to worry about running out of the basics.

His fifth death anniversary: a khatam at Manchester Central Mosque

On Sunday 7 December 2025, five years to the day since my father passed away, we held a Grand Khatam Esaal-e-Sawab for him at Manchester Central Mosque in Victoria Park, the mosque he used to go to.

Hafiz Moeen Akhtar was the host, and Hafiz Abdul Qadir Hashmi was also with us. Allama Hafiz Aqeel ul Qadri Jalali gave the Urdu speech, and Hafiz Ozair gave a short speech that touched everyone's heart.

The khatam was held under the spiritual guidance of Hazrat Allama Peer Syed Muhammad Farooq Shah Sialvi, who led a special dua for all those who have passed away. It was a deeply spiritual and uplifting gathering.

Langar was served, and families came together with their children to remember him.

Cooked food for people in need in Lahore

In 2023 we hired cooks to make rice with chickpeas and chicken in large pots.

We handed it out in Lahore, outside hospitals and in areas where people are struggling to survive. We gave it out through the day and late into the night, to everyone who came.

The gathering began with recitation of the Quran, followed by nasheeds and a speech. The Khatam Shareef was then completed for him, and it closed with the main dua.

2022 · Burewala, Pakistan

A free medical camp and months of food for the villages of Burewala

In 2022 we spent time in the villages (chaks) around Burewala, where most families live in very basic huts, some without a proper roof.

We set up a free medical camp in one of the villages. An announcement was made in the local masjid beforehand, and the camp ran from well before sunset into the night. More than a few hundred people were seen. My wife, Dr Ahmed, an Obstetrics and Gynaecology registrar, gave free consultations, and I helped her with anything she needed. Many of her patients were women: pregnant women with complications, women with problems after giving birth, and women needing gynaecological care. We gave out essential medicines free of charge, and where someone needed specialist medicine we couldn't supply on the day, we gave them the money to buy it.

At the same time, we hired a loader truck and took food to families across the villages. More than 100 households received enough to last them months: atta, rice, different daals, ghee, sugar, salt, chilli powder, dates, Jam-e-Shirin and besan pakora mix. I also handed out food from my car.

The last photo shows the open toilets shared by many families in one of the villages. This is the same area where we built a water well.

Clothes for families in Burewala, and a wedding for a girl without a father

In January 2022 we gave out more than 1,000 kg of clothes in Burewala. People in the UK donated them in my father's memory, and we collected them and sent them to Pakistan. They went to many, many families who could not afford to buy clothes.

We also helped a girl whose father had passed away to get married. We gave her wedding clothes, and the money to pay for her wedding.

A water well for families near Burewala

Around 2021 we built a water well with a hand pump for families living near Burewala, in the same area where we later held our medical camp. Many families live close to it and use it.

The sign beside it dedicates it as Sadaqah Jariyah, for the Esaal-e-Sawab of my father, Mukhtar Ahmed (RA), and our other departed relatives.
